The aim is to standardise the handling and treatment of residual waste regardless of the place at which it is produced. This will also bring about an alignment with the regulations applicable in the majority of other federal provinces.
Introduction of mandatory participation by ‘non-households’ (businesses, institutions and other bodies) in the handling of municipal residual waste by municipalities. As is already the rule for households, ‘non-households’ are to be allocated a container volume (up to a maximum of 3 120 litres per year for businesses) depending on the amount of residual waste they produce. Charges and levies are payable for the services provided by municipalities (collection, handling and treatment of residual waste).
