As consumer awareness is on the rise, society's demand for high quality food is increasing. Consumer demand for higher quality products and more in-depth information has grown. The draft adds a new regulation to the Codex Alimentarius Hungaricus to ensure these products may be produced to a high quality and that consumers are given fair information as to quality via the description of a product.

Currently, ‘cider’ is not defined in either Hungarian food legislation or EU regulations; therefore, various generally low-quality products with the invented name of ‘cider’ can be found on the market.
