- Directive 2014/40/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 3 April 2014 on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States concerning the manufacture, presentation and sale of tobacco and related products and repealing Directive 2001/37/EC Text with EEA relevance
The provisions of the draft Royal Decree are aligned with those adopted by the United Kingdom and France and which have already proven to be successful in these Member States.
The purpose of this regulation, based on Article 24 of Directive 2014/40/EU, is to standardise the presentation of packets of cigarettes, rolling tobacco and waterpipe tobacco. This Royal Decree (hereinafter referred to as ‘RD’) therefore aims to define the colour and elements which appear on the packaging of cigarettes, rolling tobacco and waterpipe tobacco.
