Target audience: producers, importers, distributors or other suppliers of smartphones, sellers of this equipment, and those using a website, platform or any other online distribution channel as part of their commercial activity in France.

The Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Minister for the Economy and Finance,
Purpose: criteria, sub-criteria and scoring system for calculating and displaying the repairability index of smartphones.

Having regard to the French Environmental Code, particularly Article L. 541-9-2 thereof;
Entry into force: the text shall enter into force on 1 January 2021.

Having regard to Decree No XXX of XXXX on the implementing rules for the repairability index for electrical and electronic products, its criteria and its calculation method;
Notice: this Order specifies the scoring system of the repairability index for smartphones.

This Order applies to smartphones. A smartphone is understood to be an electronic device used for long-distance communication over a cellular network of base stations. It has similar functionality to a wireless laptop that is primarily intended for use on battery power and has a touch interface.

Having regard to the Environmental Code, in particular Article L541-9-2 thereof;

Having regard to Decree No 2020-1757 of 29 December 2020 on the repairability index for electrical and electronic equipment,

Hereby order as follows:

Article 1

This Order applies to multi-function telephones. A multi-function telephone is understood to be an electronic device used for long-distance communication over a cellular network of base stations. It has similar functionality to a wireless laptop that is primarily intended for use on battery power and has a touch interface.

Article 2

The criteria, sub-criteria and scoring system applicable to the products defined in Article 1 and used to calculate the repairability index for each model are specified below:
Pursuant to Articles R541-210 to R541-214 of the Environmental Code, the criteria, sub-criteria and scoring system applicable to the products defined in Article 1 to calculate the repairability index per model are specified below:
