The current situation in the olive oil and olive pomace oil market requires adaptation of the specific regulations on these products, especially with regard to the production of olive oil and olive pomace oil in Spain, from a food quality perspective.
This aim of this Royal Decree is to establish a quality standard for olive oil and olive pomace oil to replace the standard by which such products are currently regulated, namely Royal Decree 308/1983 of 25 January 1983 adopting the technical and health regulations for edible vegetable oils, where it refers to olive and olive pomace oils.
