The adoption of the notified regulation is necessary in order to update the positive list of authorised stainless steels for the production of items intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, following documented requests from companies in the food industry.
The provisions set out in the draft Regulation which are the subject of the notification concern the inclusion of new stainless steels in the positive list in Annex II – Section 6 of the Ministerial Decree of 21 March 1973. One steel is inserted in Part A (stainless steels identified by acronyms required by European or international standards) and the other in Part B (steel identified by the chemical analysis of casting, in the absence of acronyms required by European or international standards).
