In collaboration with the Directorate of Fisheries, the Norwegian Metrology Service will create regulations with the aim of managing resources in the sea in a good way. Norway manages large amounts of valuable resources in the sea and Norway has committed itself to international agreements to comply with set quotas and prevent over-taxation of the resources. New requirements and expectations from the markets that the obligations are complied with mean that it must be possible to document that quotas and regulations are complied with. This requires a good system for registering the resource extraction. The regulations will help to achieve that goal.
The regulations have compiled provisions that apply within the fisheries area. The regulations contain both new regulations and existing regulations that have been moved from instrument-specific regulations.
