The Act transposes into German law the extended producer responsibility set out in Article 8(1) to (7) of the Single-Use Plastics Directive, for the products listed in Part E of the Annex, on a one-to-one basis.
This Act establishes a national single-use plastics fund. This fund will be administered by the Federal Environment Agency and will manage the income and expenditure from implementation of extended producer responsibility, i.e. levies paid by producers and costs reimbursed to municipalities. The Federal Environment Agency is supported in its activities by the Single-Use Plastics Commission in an advisory capacity.
